Movement is the Prayer
As the great Sufi mystic Mevlana Rumi once pointed out:
„You are the Universe in Ecstatic Motion.“
And this (e)motion can be everything: small, big, vulnerable, tender, rough, strong, funny, relaxed, fearful, joyful, isolated, connected, sexy, wild, grieving, deep, dark, slow and fast.
I see myself as a mixture between an old ancient sound shaman and a young modern exploring sound scientist. And as so often in life I cannot decide for one side – I’m right in the middle and the whole spectrum simultaneously. The same with these (e)motions mentioned above. Sometimes it seems to me that I have inexhaustible capability of experiencing and that capability I want to explore – to play with – to experience how it feels to be alive, vivid and vibrant.
Somewhen I wanted to create a psychedelic experience with just sound. Like a journey: you get picked up at home – the place where you start – experience the most crazy shizzle while traveling and finally are brought back home safely. But you don’t come back as the same person who you started as and you know that. Something has changed…
In my Ecstatic Dance Sets it’s not about the genre or style of music, it’s about the journey. It gives you the space and opportunity to experience different states of being, different (e)motions and it’s energetic – oh yeah it iss!
A delicious special magic happens when my long-term soulmate, the marvleous ZuZu Creatrix, and me are waving the dance together. Then we’re adding techniques of Yoga, CI and other bodyworks before the music starts to arrive in the body.
ZuZu’s joiking, the old Sami singing technique and acoustic sound journey elements like handpan, rattles and frame drum widen the experience. Still we’re researchers and there’s always new elements adding before and during the journey.
We are creating a safe space where you feel held and carried by the sound.
We start and end together – like a ceremony! – and it’s just 2 hours, so take your chance!
We experience the whole spectrum between the dark and the light.
We speak just with our bodies.
We respect the boundaries and wishes of our fellows.
We dance without shoes to reconnect to our safe ground Mama Gaia.
Let’s move our bodies, minds and souls.
Because Movement is the Prayer.
